Clinical Massage |
Often called Remedial Massage, or Sports Massage, Clinical Massage uses assessment, analysis and reasoning to determine what is injured or unbalanced. If you have a recent injury, one that just won't get better or keeps reoccurring, or a chronic condition, clinical massage is appropriate.
Clinical Massage is a form of deep, soft-tissue massage, which removes muscle tension to release toxins and improve blood and lymph flow. Not only will this reduce recovery time after an injury, but there's recent evidence showing an improvement in performance, too. Clinical / Sports Massage will benefit you if you play sports at any level, and many sports injuries can be treated and prevented.
I am a qualified and certified Level 4 sports massage therapist (with the ITEC governing body) which means you can trust me to use current best practices for assessment and diagnosis, and to give you safe and evidence-based treatment. It also means I keep my knowledge current with regular Continuing Professional Development.
Your first appointment will be a little longer, to allow for a thorough consultation and posture analysis. Your treatment will include a combination of soft tissue massage modalities such as muscle energy technique (MET), neuromuscular technique (NMT), proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), soft tissue release (STR), and connective tissue massage (CTM), as well as fascial unwinding. The aim here is to remove adhesions (knots), release or strengthen specific muscle groups, and improve the mayofascial system's general movement.
